Introduction

My primary interests at the moment are the United States during the Reconstruction Era and American Jewish history in general. These two interests converged in my investigation of the story of Samuel Fleishman. The end result of my research, an article "Samuel Fleishman: Tragedy in Reconstruction-Era Florida," appeared in the Southern Jewish History Journal (vol. 8, 2005) this past November. I have another article, tentatively titled "More Courage Than Discretion: Charles M. Hamilton in Reconstruction-Era Florida," that should be published in the spring or summer of 2006 in the Florida Historical Quarterly. The Fleishman article can be ordered from the Southern Jewish Historical Society through their website: www.jewishsouth.org and clicking on the journal link.
