I received confirmation recently from the Equal Justice Initiative that operates the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama, that John R. Ely, Jr. will be removed from their database of racial terror lynching victims and, eventually, his name will be taken off the memorial slab listing Jackson County, Florida victims.
